Indigenous Skills and Employment Training (ISET)
The federal ISET Program funds Indigenous service delivery organizations that help people get skills training, certifications and job-search support. Services are designed and delivered by Indigenous organizations.
What support can look like
- Help paying for short courses and certifications (for example First Aid, WHMIS, Class 1 driving, trades pre-apprenticeship)
- Resume, interview and job-search coaching
- Wage subsidies that help employers hire and train
- Support with work gear, transportation or childcare while you train
How to find your local office
Ask your band office, Métis Nation citizenship office, Inuit regional organization, or a local Friendship Centre which organization serves your area.
For employers
Posting on Aboriginal Hiring is a good start. Building relationships with local Indigenous employment organizations is even better.
